Whisky fans snap up rare Highland bottles for more than £250,000 apiece in digital auction at Sotheby's

The Dalmore whiskies shattered their pre-auction estimates.

IT may be the water of life, but whisky can kill your bank balance – at least it can if you happen to snap up exceptionally rare Highland bottles for more than £250,000 apiece.
Two bottles of 62-year-old Dalmore have utterly shattered their estimated sale price at auction in London today.
One bottle – dubbed the Mackenzie – and another called The Cromarty each fetched £266,200 when they went under he hammer in a digital auction at Sotheby's today. The sum more than doubled their pre-auction estimates of between £75,000 and £100,000 apiece.
