Tens of thousands of fish killed at Fleet Pond nature reserve

Tens of thousands of fish have died at Fleet Pond due to extremely high temperatures causing low oxygen levels.

Officers from Hart District Council, the Environment Agency (EA) and Fleet Pond Society are carrying out a clean-up operation on Wednesday (August 12) after a significant number of fish were killed the previous day.

The public has been urged to stay away from the pond areas, the site is not far from Fleet train station, and dogs must not be allowed to enter the water.
